The Mini Kelly 2 adopts the Sellier style, characterized by an “outer stitching + rigid edges + defined angles” structure. Compared to the vintage Mini Kelly, which had a slightly “softer” body, the Mini Kelly 2 features sharper angles, a more structured silhouette, and cleaner lines.

This structure demands an incredibly high level of craftsmanship. Maintaining a bag that is “structured without collapsing” within such miniature proportions is a significant test of skills in leather pattern planning, stitching, edge finishing, and shaping.

Although the Mini Kelly 2 is smaller and lighter than the classic Kelly, it still adheres to the brand’s nearly exacting standards for details: exposed stitching must be neat and consistent, edge sanding and coloring must be clean, hardware must be polished to perfection, connections must be tight, and proportions must be precise. The smaller the size, the easier it is for these “micro-imperfections” to be magnified; therefore, the manufacturing difficulty is no less than that of larger bags.

Epsom is a type of calfskin that falls under the category of “full-grain cowhide + post-process embossing.” Its surface texture is not the natural grain of the cowhide but is created by Hermès or its partner tanneries via heat-embossing.

It has moderate thickness, is rigid, and relatively light—lighter than certain thicker, natural-grained leathers (such as Togo or Clemence).

Epsom is typically produced by several specialized tanneries, including those owned by or closely partnered with Hermès. For instance, one widely recognized primary tannery for Epsom is Les Tanneries Du Puy. Since this factory is not wholly owned or controlled by Hermès, Shebag is also able to secure top-tier Epsom leather, the price of which is significantly higher than the leather used for ordinary luxury bags.

Epsom employs a combination of traditional and modern processes: chrome tanning + embossing + finishing. This gives it a rigid structure, water and scratch resistance, and excellent color retention.

Hermès-owned or partner tanneries are typically high-grade (meeting standards like LWG for environment/quality); Epsom batches undergo strict inspection (checking grain depth, uniformity, and absence of defects) prior to delivery to ensure they meet “luxury level” standards. Shebag’s procurement volume is not massive, which allows us to hand-select top-tier leather from European leather distributors.
